Remember when rock ruled the charts and you could hear and see it everywhere? In this new series, we explore a single date in history to explore the Billboard album charts and take a look at what rock albums were tearing up the charts. In Part 2 of this 2 part episode, we look at August 1, 1985 – 4 Years to the day MTV launched, because we wanted to see the impact it had on the charts.

MTV (Music Television) first launched in 1981, after 4 years of working to get MTV into the homes of kids around the world, they finally had become a mammoth influence on radio, which in turn had a direct effect on the music charts.
