Is this a tribute band or not? We discuss bands playing today without the original classic lineups. Should they still be using the name or should they call it a tribute band? In many cases the band has only one or maybe two original members still in the band. In the case of Foreigner, Mick Jones, the only member still in the band does not even play the entire show.
People are extremely passionate about accepting a band without all the classic lineup, or at least certain members of the classic lineup. Queensryche, Warrant, Skid Row, Dokken, Kiss, Van Halen, and the list goes on – hell you can even add a band like HEAT into this debate. It is my opinion that because of this mentality, RnR suffers and here’s how: the next generation of fans miss out because the old school rockers won’t support or help promote the new music or lineup. I also think people are missing out on great new music that some of these bands may put out.
