Episode Description:
It’s our 100th episode and we are celebrating in a big way. We are honored to have on the show with us, Y & T founding member Dave Meniketti. We figured in Dave’s 45 year career, there hasn’t been an interview question he hasn’t answered, so our man Hollywood came up with the idea of giving Dave the option to pick three albums from different eras of Y & T’s career to discuss. Dave picks an awesome three-pack of albums and shares some great stories with us about the band and the recording of each of the albums.
What’s The Story?
I am a huge Y & T fan and have been since the mid 80s. My fandom pales in comparison to Sonny “Hollywood” Pooni. Sonny has seen the band 49 times as of this recording. According to him, if you grew up a rock fan in the Bay Area of California, you have a responsibility of being a Y & T fan. So it goes without saying when we needed a very special guest for our 100th episode, we looked no farther than Sonny’s fellow California brother, and the leader of one of Sonny’s top 5 bands, Y & T’s Dave Meniketti. This band has meant so much to Sonny over his Growin’ Up Rock years that I wanted to share the intro to this episode in his own words.
“Growin’ up in Northern California, Y&T is a major part of my Growin’ Up Rock story. To this day, it drives me absolutely nuts when a “rock” fan doesn’t know who Y&T is…especially if they are from California. Even though they have been rockin’ the world for 45 years, the passion and work ethic has never wavered. We are so honored to have with us, the absolute hero of my teenage years, the underrated vocalist and guitarist of Y&T and one of the hardest working guys in rock, Mr. Dave Meniketti.”
Sit back and enjoy as we take a trip with Dave through 3 very different periods in the band’s career covering three killer albums.

Outstanding interview. Was Sonny just excited or is his audio track sped up? You can tell he was uber excited. #Congrats on 100 and here is to 100 more.
Thank you for listening and the kind feedback. Excited is an understatement. LOL
I seen YNT over 140 times all my life
Now that is a superfan. Thanks for giving the episode a listen.
Great job interviewing Dave. Definitely another Cali brother from another mother!!! I love Y&T!
Gentlemen, I cannot express my sincere gratitude enough for this AMAZING interview with Dave Meniketti. He’s a great conversationalist and the direction you went in this interview lent itself perfectly to that. This interview was a long form introspective with one of my heroes and I couldn’t have asked for more! Kudos!
Wow! Thanks for the incredible compliment. As you said he made it so easy to have a conversation. Thanks for listening!
Simply the best interview Dave has done. Don’t know if you noticed but Dave shared it on all of his media platforms with a pretty cool note attached. Congratulations gentleman on a great episode! When you read this on the podcast, tell Sonny that it’s time make the fanboy come out in Steven and get a Rob Halford, EVH or Angus Young on the show LOL
Very nice words. I would be honored to speak with any of those guys you mentioned, but don’t think that’s ever gonna happen. It’s OK, cause we will continue to play the tunes and carry the flag for hard rock n metal. Thanks for your continued support. We appreciate you.
Just finished listening to the Meniketti episode, WOW! So, now I’m a new fan. Listened to the Diamond Head, Wild Hair Vol 1 and Michael Sweet episodes and LOVED those too!!! It was also cool that the Wild Hair episode was different than the interview ones. Keep up the great work! CHEERS!
Thanks for listening lift me up. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for continuing to give us the chance to entertain you. Cheers!!
