Biters Interview w/ Tuk – EP012

In this episode, Steven meets up with Tuk Smith of the Biters. Biters from Atlanta are an amazing band that channel rock n roll influences like T.Rex, The Sweet, Cheap Trick, AC DC, and even Tom Petty, yes I said Tom Petty. Biters carve out dirty, hook-laden rock/pop anthems that will have you pumping your fist and screaming for more.

They create a sound from a rockin’ era long-lost, and somehow make it fresh and exciting yet familiar. The music comes from a place of honesty and integrity, and just an all-around love and affection for classic rock of the 70s and early 80s. Take away the labels and the influences and you are left with just some damn catchy songwriting.

Episode Description

When I reached out to main songwriter and frontman Tuk, I wanted to hear his Rock N Roll story. I hoped to understand how his influences shaped the musician he is and the songs he writes to create the Biters music.

Tuk & Steve Michael at the dog park

Instead of the usual Skype call, studio interview, or tour bus talk, Tuk suggested we meet at a neighborhood dog park out in back of a cool little coffee house. It was an absolute beautiful day, and I was sold, yet a little hesitant because of sound quality. What I got was a very cool interview, with all the sounds of nature and dogs, along with a great conversation and insight into what makes this great newer band tick.

Don’t miss the fun and unique introduction to this episode. I am helped out by my two Decibel Geek brothers, fellow podcasters, and Biters’ fans Chris and Aaron when I stopped by their Nashville studio. Make sure you check the Decibel Geek Podcast out as well.
