In this episode of When Rock Ruled The Charts, we focus on the Death of Hair Bands. We take an in-depth look at January 11th, 1992. The day Nirvana’s “Nevermind” hit number one on the Top 200 Album charts.
It is said that Nirvana killed hair metal and ushered in the era of Grunge. Did it really, or was rock alive and present on the charts even when Nirvana was in full bloom? I would argue that grunge was rock, so even with the charts full of grunge bands, rock still ruled the charts.
