To stream or not to stream, that seems to be the question among music lovers everywhere. Streaming services have made it easy and affordable to put an unlimited number of songs and albums at your fingertips.
In this episode of the Growin’ Up Rock Podcast, Sonny and I look into the streaming numbers for some of our favorite bands. We discuss our thoughts and history with Spotify and other streaming services. We explore the pros and cons while playing some of the music we discovered through Spotify.
About Spotify:
Spotify is a media-services provider founded in 2006 in Sweden and now incorporated in Luxembourg. The company’s primary business is its audio streaming platform that provides DRM-protected music and podcasts from record labels and media companies. As a freemium service, basic features are free with advertisements or automatic music videos, while additional features, such as improved streaming quality, are offered via paid subscriptions.
Launched on 7 October 2008, the Spotify platform provides access to over 50 million tracks. Users can browse by parameters such as artist, album, or genre, and can create, edit, and share playlists. Spotify is available in most of Europe and the Americas, Australia, New Zealand, and parts of Africa and Asia, and on most modern devices. As of July 2019, it had 232 million monthly active users, including 108 million paying subscribers. – Source Wiki.

The numbers were crazy! Great episode! Agree with Helloween, they suck. LOL
Thanks for listening. Some people got uptight because they love Helloween. Never can tell.
I listen on Spreaker LOL. Guess I’ll stop? Just kidding. Unique perspective on a cool topic because only Hollywoooooooooooooood can do numbers like this.
Hello. Great episode once again. I really have been enjoying your last few podcast, falling short of number one, love to hate, and this one. Awesome stuff. You asked how we listen to our podcasts. I use a music software on my computer called Music Bee. It is like a music juke box, player, organizer etc…. I can subscribe to podcasts that way. I like to have them in all one location so I can down load as I want and take them with me . I don’t like to go to all of the other services to stream online or find ,unless it is not offered as a down load subscription. I know I mentioned this before but my subscription to Growin Up Rock is not working. I tried to erase it and put it in again and still is not working. It’s probably something on my in. I am just dangerous enough to surf Google!
I am in step with you guys for the most part as far as streaming or not. I am pretty late to the game as far as Spotify. Just got on it awhile back and still kind of stumbling through it. I still purchase cd’s of bands that I am a big fan of and follow. I check out others on Spotify or you tube. I wanted to touch on this about buying music vs streaming.
When I purchase music from an artist, whether it was albums and cassettes back in the day or Cd’s currently I feel there is more of a connection, kinship, being involved, can get more into, ownership, and etc….if that makes any sense? It’s something that having, holding, reading, looking at a physical copy and knowing its track list, who plays on, seeing the artist, the producer, engineer, reading the linear notes, and giving there”Thanks” to. I recently bought a bunch of Cd’s from amazon this week. Not really an heavy hard stuff, but just good music.
Duane Betts-Sketches of America
Trigger Hippy-Full Circle and Them Some
Paul Rodgers-Free Spirit
Martin Barre-Roads Less Traveled and Live AT The Factory Underground
Delta Deep- East Coast Live
Gregg Allman-Laid Back Deluxe Edition
Allman Betts Band- Down To The River
Thanks again for what you guys do and taking the time to read and respond to comments!
Thanks for listening Joel. Not sure what is happening with you subscription. Wish I could help but you already tried what I suggested. It does not appear to be happening with anyone else, so like you said maybe something on your end. You are the only person to come back with that unique way of listening to podcast, but if it works for you – cool. Remember you can always communicate with us by email – growinuprock@gmail.com – Thanks again for listening and glad you are digging it.
