Strap in for a wild ride with Mr. Big’s Eric Martin. In this long and extremely entertaining conversation with Eric Martin, we get into his history, both solo and with Mr. Big. We talk about some of the legendary bands that Eric almost ended up singing for, along with a variety of great stories Eric shares with us.
More About Eric
Eric Martin started his career in various bands in the Bay Area, before getting signed to Elektra records as part of The Eric Martin Band. The band featured future Y&T guitarist John Nymann, along with future Tesla drummer Troy Luccketta. The band released “Sucker For A Pretty Face,” which was a melodic rock album that failed to make an impact at the time.
Eric eventually ended up getting a call from Billy Sheehan who had recently departed David Lee Roth’s band and was in the process of putting together a new band with guitarist Paul Gilbert and drummer Pat Torpey. The new band, Mr. Big would go on to have chart topping success on the back of a single that Eric wrote when he was 16 years old.
